Sunjata would tell you that you’ve offended Dawn if you called her a loner. The stallion would flick his tail and stare, inclined to agree with you. Being friendly and making friends are two very different things, and she’s not great at the latter. Once, when she ran with the little thieving gang in Bergast, she’d have considered those people her friends. She knows better now, knows how dangerous trust is for a person like her, hiding dangerous magic. Friendship, no matter how yearned for, terrifies her. If one were to bridge that fear, they’d find in her a passionately fierce friend.

Avoiding making enemies at all costs only goes so far when you never know when to shut the fuck up. Sunny really doesn’t try to make enemies, nor does she want them, but they are inevitable in life—especially when you’re some mad cross between stubborn, spiteful, and downright idiotic with your impulses. And propriety? She keeps just enough of it for work, and rest gets dumped down the drain. It all makes for a maddening, frustrating rival. In terms of true enemies, so far, she's only collected two - her former mentor, and the man she tried to betray her to. [both are fillable roles.]

The closest Sunjata has ever gotten to love was a fast and intense teenage romance, one that ended with her severely burning him. Overall, she’s had a handful of encounters, none of them full of anything passionate or lasting. With her fear of friendship naturally comes a fear of romantic vulnerability, and if she weren’t afraid, it would still be a tough sell. Sunny’s priorities in life do not include courtship—any potential match would need to keep up and hold their own, as she’d hope the same would be expected of her.

Everyone’s family is a little bit fucked up right? Sunjata’s is. Her mother was killed in childbirth by the claws of her gifted newborn sister. Her newborn sister was taken by some wild beast after her father left the baby on a hillside to die. Her father was a harsh and cruel man who drove her big brother away. And when he discovered she had magic… she doesn’t ever seem to remember that part. Her family was a lesson to her: blood doesn’t create loyalty.

The world at large is kept at arm's length, but she forms many surface relationships with people around the continent in all her travels. As a messenger, she meets people from all walks of life, and she tries to start out on friendly and professional terms with them all.
