I have lately been in correspondence with your sister and it is with great relief that I can send this to you. Word of your survival and safety has not traveled well on the grapevine just yet (nor  Isto’s) - though the arrival of your family is very well known. My heart was very heavy waiting to know what your fate had been...

I am certain that it will come as no surprise to you to learn that Kira has been scheming with me. I mean to change my lodgings and she has invited me to stay in your family’s home here for a while. I must confess, I have already accepted the invitation. However, it occurred to me that such an action may have been over-hasty; perhaps even unfair to you. 

While I have no doubts that your mother would find my presence a blight, as always, I have paused to wonder (and write) if I would be an unwelcome sight for you as well? I will not be offended, if so, and I urge you to tell me truthfully how you feel at such a prospect. These are unprecedented circumstances and I know we have been on unsure footing for some time now. I would not wish to strain you further with my visitation.

Should you wish not to take on a guest at this time, I only ask - no, indeed, I do beg - that Kira and I be allowed time together some other way. Even if it means Claydon and the whole of the Valarocco must chaperone us.

It is strange to think how much has happened since we crossed paths in that tavern not so long ago. I hope you are truly well, Logan.

Dear Idrial,

I appreciate your concern for my safety and can assure you that Isto and I are both doing quite well - he is still mad as ever - and have come out generally unscathed compared to the rest of the city.I am so glad to hear that you have been writing to Kira. She has not had an easy time adjusting to life here in Noira, as I don’t think she expected to spend this much time away from home. You know she loves the excitement of travel, but I fear this experience has been a bit more arduous for her and I have not been present as often as I would like to be.

As shocking as it is to say, I am glad to hear she is still up to her scheming with you, as I know she has missed your companionship. I can’t help but laugh at her brazenness in inviting you to stay as I think we both know she probably did not consult with anyone before sending that offer. Even so, you are more than welcome, regardless of how my mother feels.

When it comes to myself and our history, please don’t let that hinder your visit. I cannot say for certain how your presence in the home will impact me, but the happiness of both my sister and yourself far outweighs any of my own personal feelings. I have spent a lot of time thinking about our interaction in the tavern, and I hope we can get back to that place of familiarity, if not friendship in the future.

No begging required. I cannot make any promises about my mother, but I will be sure that Claydon has plenty of duties that take him away from the home so you can feel more at ease.

Thank you for your honesty and your consent, Logan. I hope my presence, whenever you are home, will not be difficult to bear. Should you find my being there at all unpleasant at any time, for any reason, please do not hesitate to say so. I should never wish to overstay my welcome with your family (Idonea excepting, of course, as I have yet to earn her welcome to begin with).

I look forward to dining with you, whenever it can be managed, and share your hope that we may find steady footing again. Your friendship is dearly missed in my life.

I intend to arrive on the first of the coming month but can delay if needed.
