Luying hadn’t been paying much attention to her surroundings while in the bookshop— relying solely on her beloved bodyguard to keep her safe while she enjoyed herself in one of her favorite places. She could see the male Peredhel enjoying his time talking to a sweet little human woman near the front of the shop. By her attire Luying could tell she was the owner, and was happy that the Peredhel was making some friends while they were in Thisbē’s capital.

She was about to walk back up the the counter to pay for the books she’d found, when a book stuffed between two giant volumes and the wall caught her attention. She looked around quite warily before picking it up. The title read "Quick and Devious Ways to Complete a Demonic Ritual” and the author on the front cover was almost completely smudged off, but Luying could see the impressions of the ink stamps that were used. It read "Alauren Skilgiure". There were millions of authors out there of whom she had not read a word from much to her chagrin, as she wished to read everything from children’s books to academic journals detailing horse dung and it’s medical properties.

After putting her stack of novels to the side, she opened the book to find a series of drawings among the pages depicting monsters from alleged zombies to the phantoms that prowl the night in the wilds. She turned a couple more pages before a piece of parchment would fall to the floor, popping open for her to read.

"Do not perform the spell on page thirty-six! It will bring no good to your life, and may even remove your soul. Use caution when performing anything inside this manual!"

She gave a sniff at the pages, regretting the action immediately when her nose was filled with the scent of sulfur. She coughed, a hacking and unseemly noise for someone of her status, and shut the book with a snap when the shopkeep gave her a startled look, and her guard put a hand on his sword.

She admired their concern for her safety over a minor thing such as a cough— her cold demeanor may have made them think of her as inhuman or something to that extent. She couldn’t say she blamed them.

"I’m alright, thank you for your caution though, Ser." She smiled sweetly before gathering her stack up once more and going to pay.

She would have to try that spell sooner or later, or at the very least research it to see what exactly it entailed.

Once the payment was through she sat and chartered with the shopkeep and her knight for a while, when nearing the end of their conversation a stranger strolled in.
