New to Giralda, I see. Well, it takes all sorts around here. Take that shifty-eyed weasel by the fire.
Oh, he acts looks like a simple merchant, peddling meager wares, but watch what you say around him. The Empire’s got ears everywhere...
See those two there? They seem all chummy now, but that’s only because Var is trying to convince Jarek to desert the navy in Thisbē and join
those lawless bastards who sail from the Spice Isles. I’m sure that one will kill the other before the week is out, once they’ve got what they want from each other.
Then there’s always the usual mercs; bastards who’d happily kill their own mothers for a coin. Oh, they say those twins from Brelan aren’t so bad,
but a merc is a merc, and money is all they see.
At least there're no damned elves here tonight. One got uppity last month when I insisted the
bastard slept in the stables. A damn generous offer for a half-breed, if you ask me!
Mind yourself if you head into the Wilds. It’s full of things that
would happily eat you and shit you out without a second thought. Even the people who hunt those things are more beast than civil.
Anyway stranger,
what'll it be: a room, or a drink?

CURRENT MONTH: AUREL, 762
This month marks the transition from the scorching sun of summer to the cooling of autumn. The night skies become more magnificent as shooting stars are more frequent, and auroras dance across the horizon. Aurel is a time of harvest when the farmers gather the crops that cannot withstand the upcoming heavy rains of Nandir.
December 2023 Soft hiatus - have a safe, warm, and minimally dysfunctional holiday season!
October 2023 Site month change! New threads (unless set in the past, future, or an AU) should be dated "Aurel 762". See the Information tab for a description of the month. Characters in the Temple Crew should be mindful of the continuity of possible injuries, connections made, relationship changes, increase in wealth, etc. as much as possible as this is set after the campaign.

It started early, the time just past dawn and the world was once again covered in light. It was almost silent out beside the birds that had just woken to start their chirping high in the trees. A squirrel scampered up a tree with a fresh nut, and then there were other sounds that were new. Footfalls lightly tapped at the earth followed by the thuds of something bigger. Nymeria ran as fast as her feet would carry her through woods and open fields.[break][break]
Something was following her, something dark that wanted to harm her and devour her. She turned her head sharply to look over her left shoulder but she didn't see anything. Still, she knew it was there, something evil that was chasing her that would not stop until it had her. She looked to the right and saw a unicorn running alongside her. It was a beautiful and magnificent beast that stood a shoulder taller than her.[break][break]
Nymeria reached for the unicorn and climbed onto it's back urging it to run faster. FASTER. Together and as one they raced through the woods, but no matter how fast they ran they couldn't run fast enough to get away from what was chasing them. They couldn't escape. They ran until they couldn't run any longer when they reached the end of a steep cliff that faded off into a deep pool. There was no time to think, no time left to find a way around. The unicorn jumped sending them both diving into the unknown pool of dark water.[break][break]
When she opened her eyes Nymeria was still laying in her bed naked, and half covered by the fur sheet over her. It was quiet in the tavern, the voices from below were all silent and it was too early for the crowd to assemble again. The bright light from the sun shined into her windows and illuminated the room in a way that made her lay still and admire it.[break][break]
The young mage wouldn't know how long she laid there, only that it was peaceful and calm. Nymeria felt that she could lie there forever drifting nowhere on clouds made of pillows. After a few mintues, she flung the sheet back and stood up to stretch her arms and legs as she smiled. "Mmmhm!" she exclaimed as she lifted up on her toes and reached for the ceiling.[break][break]
She got dressed in her usual robes that were mildly colorful and headed out of the room. Down the stairs she went, almost floating down and landed on the floor with a bounce. There was no one inside the tavern yet besides the owner setting up for the day and his wife who had just put the pot on boil. Outside, the mage was greeted by a bright and warm sun, accompanied by a cool breeze that brushed across her cheek and neck. Nymeria took a deep breath inhaling the morning air. [break][break]
The province of Paeyr was a place that she had never been to before, a place forgotten by many in the world. Once, Paeyr stood as a strong power within the kingdom, but due to inner conflict the once great province fell. What was left was deemed holy due to the many religious temples that remained. There was nothing here Nymeria wanted, but it was the meeting place that Nira'lia marked on her map. The temple of the Pirulma Elves stood at the highest peak in the hills and that was where Nira'lia awaited her.[break][break]
"I wonder if they have carts that traverse up the mountain path? I would prefer that greatly to walking all the way to the top."[break][break]

The morning light had graced the earth not too long ago and it had felt like it had been half a day. This was on the account that the man had slept none during the night, more of what was called a night owl. The night meant humans were asleep, which also meant that peace was within reach. So he naturally relished the darkness, there was no one to gawk or gasp at his stature or bareness. These people were on some type of schedule, hustling and bustling during the day; as if it was the only way life was meant to live. They all had jobs, friends, homes, and families.
"Papa!"
"Oh,Sammie!"
"Watch me,Daddy!
The titan's body walked down a side street, yet his mind was lost in the three voices. At this moment; What was contained inside that iron black and gold helmet Was merely the shell of a man. He'd stopped breathing as he walked into a pedestrian, knocking them over in the process. Twin deep blue iris' peered through the curved eye holes, but there was no life in them. The flashbacks of those three consumed and ate away at his soul. -He had failed them- They were all gone and it was his negligence that cost them their breath.
A bell striking brought him back to reality, stopping in the light of a main street. The sun hitting his bronze colored flesh and compared to his homeland…. This heat was blistering. It was to note that to most people this was probably a cooler day, but given that his lands were chilling to bone.. this was like a desert to him. The titan looked down at his own body, lifting his bandage-covered forearms. Already, sweat pooled against his chest and hips, giving them a shining look.
The party had disbanded some time ago, what a week or two in passing? Normally, he had silk draped around his hips, not today. Valik stood there in the street with nothing but bandages across his legs and arms, and the helmet over his face. No one seemed to care, most likely putting him off as a mad man. Either that or they were too distracted by his height. Regardless, if they had opinions about him they were free to confront him.
There was irony in this. He saw himself as normal and here he was counting them all as outcasts. In his eyes he was a beast living his own life, humanity was encroaching on his wilds. A scent fluttered in through the bottom of his helmet and into his lungs. It was recognizable instantly. The woman from the cell. The mage.
It made him turn around and there she was standing in the breeze. The beast had passed by the door not long before, watching her inhale the air around her. She had always been a stunning woman to him, walking toward her as the muscles inside his thighs and hips flexed. They powered him like a train engine as he approached.
"Nymeria"
Never had he spoken to an individual before, but considering what they had just gone through. She earned his respect. The way his voice thundered inside the helmet, vibrating the space around his skull. His tones were dipped heavily in foreign baritones. Finally, stopped very few feet from her. Personal space wasn't in his Forte of mannerisms, but this would be the first time he spoke to her.
"I doubt there ar carts. It gets too steep for cahal"

Nymeria spun around quickly as the crack of thunder vibrated through the air in the form of her name. Valik stood before her, his massive frame towering over her, eclipsing her and devouring her shadow. It was alarming in a way, that such a large man could move silently or remain so still as to become apart of the city itself. She was caught off guard, so much so that she almost missed the most surprising thing of all.[break][break]
"You can speak. Now there's something, everyone thought you were a mute." She said to him, her words colored by humor. Nymeria also noticed that he had remembered her name, where she mostly recalled his. "You're called Valick am I right? Or was it Valik? Am I pronouncing it correctly?" [break][break]
The young mage turned her gaze towards the hills and steps that she had to climb to reach the top. Vailk's accent was as deep as it was thick, but his words were understandable enough for her to pick up their meaning. She gave a sigh as she thought over his revelation that delivered the hard truth that she would be walking the full journey's length to the top of the mountain. [break][break] "You've been here before I take it? You seem to know the lay of the land." Nymeria turned back to look upon the colossus again, and as before she had to tilt her head back to look at his head. The helmet he wore looked heavy, and it shined in the morning sun directing attention away from the fact that he wasn't wearing much else. [break][break]
Her eyes swept over him taking in his impressiveness wrapped in simple bandages and cloth. "I would suggest that you make a stop at the tailor if you're planning on sticking around. This is a holy place and your lack of dress will surely offend the locals. Though I doubt that anyone would be so bold as to say so aloud." She took a step forward, and tilted her head slightly as she brushed her hair away from her eyes. "We can go there now if you're willing?"[break][break]
In the distance, and far enough along the path to be obscured by a wagon and passing villagers, someone was watching them. He was tall, his figure willowy and pale. His hair was long and dark, and a strange wooden crown adorned his head, fitted into his hair in the back like a bow. The stranger worse robes much like that of a mage, a royal blue shade trimmed in gold. For now, he simply watched them from afar, but his gaze seemed to settle more on the small woman rather than her enormous male companion.[break][break]

"You can speak. Now there's something, everyone thought you were a mute."
It was true and he had never considered himself much of a talker. The monster arched his back slightly, stretching out the muscles in his chest and stomach. His dark blue eyes looked to the clouds as he thought about her words. It was clear that he was in fact not a mute, simply a man of little words. "Observation is in my nature. Words arn my strong point." His skull would drop to look down upon the robes she wore, looking at its texture with a keen eye.
"You're called Valick am I right? Or was it Valik? Am I pronouncing it correctly?"
Now this was a first. Most would never consider the pronunciation of his name important. A dark chuckle left his throat as he put his hands on his hips. "Da, Valik. Though, ya may call me whateva ya desire." The breeze caught his skin and it combined with his sweet sent a cooling chill up his spine. The woman turned to look at the mountain, before speaking back to him and tilting her head back.
There was a moment of admiration of her features. Her soft jaw line, fair skin tone, and her throat. She was as feminine as a woman could be and attractive to go with it. "Net, neva been here. Howeva, navigation comes naturally. The mountains back home are far moa gruelin. You wish to summit it?"
Then she spoke of clothing and tailors. It caused the titan to look down at his bare body. She was implying that he'd offend the holy people of this land and the importance was lost upon his soul. "Hmm, the Gods intended for humans to be naked. Is it not holy to walk as they created?" Valik had never been religious or spiritual, he merely existed in the moment.
His knees would bend as he crouched down more to eye level with her. His breath hummed away inside the metal as he looked over her own body. "Does my bareness offend you, Lady Nymeria?" His voice was filled with flirtatious baritones, tilting his head to the right as his left hand covered the region of his groin. There was a bright flash of blue light that poured out of the eye sockets on his helmet, electricity screaming briefly before disappearing again.
"Compared to my lands. This heat is blistering. I don't like being hot. But, if it is yer wish, I'll give it a try."

"Observation is in your nature? Does that mean you're a spy?" Nymeria cocked a smirk as she mused silently. If he was a spy and there to spy on her that would have been interesting. As far as she was concerned, she'd done nothing wrong and was on business for a member of the mage's guild. She doubted that Avallon would have her followed, and he who enjoyed his solitude so much would gladly send her on an errand rather than have her accompany him. [break][break]
Nymeria noticed his gaze sweeping across her robes, but she didn't mind him looking. The young mage had an eye for fashion and as luck would have it, she met a taylor who designed robes and gowns of high quality. "Da-Valik? Very well, Da-Valik is what I shall call you." She smiled and chuckled softly. "I dare say that in all our travels I've learned more about you today than I have before." [break][break]
The mammoth of a man didn't spare her his gaze as he looked her over closely. It didn't bother her and she had been looking him over at the same time. It wasn't often that she met anyone who walked around wearing so little, and yet his head was covered by a helmet. "You're also a navigator? I don't suppose you see a way up this steep hill that doesn't involve stumping my way to the top?"[break][break]
Valik appeared confused when she mentioned his lack of clothing, and it amused her that she was likely the first person to speak of it to him. "Walking as the gods intended does sound admirable, but then, I suppose that depends on which gods you serve. In your case I gather that would be a god that apparently prefers helmets...and little else. Either way, I find in most cases that the wishes of man conflict with the will of the gods....even their own."[break][break]
Nymeria met his eyes as he leaned in close to her eye level and she tilted her head to stare into his mask. "Lady Nymeria? It does have a nice sound to it, doesn't it?" she jested, and despite how she dressed the fancy mage wasn't of noble birth. "You will find Da-Valik? That I am not easily offended. Now then, let us put your skills of navigation to work." She looked around and tapped a finger at her chin. "There is a market of sorts near the center. Perhaps we will find attire to suit you there."
