At least there're no damned elves here tonight. One got uppity last month when I insisted the

The summer heat swells to nigh unbearable. Nights do not bring the same relief they did before the solstice. Rain is extremely rare. If it rains at all, it comes in short intense bursts; hardly enough to soak the ground. Droughting and wildfires are commonplace in lowlands.
Januray 2023 The site month has changed! Old & new Solstice threads may still continue at your leisure. + The Forsaken Temple campaign has started! The opening thread can be found in Brelan. This is set with enough time after Solstice events that characters will have no issue doing both.

When Lucas was conceived it was by accident– his mother had been an elf and his father a human, so when it was found out, it was a complete surprise that she was pregnant– and when it came around to the birthing, it was even more of a surprise that it was twins. Unfortunately, though, Rose Dahl, their mother, died during childbirth. During early childhood Lucas took to books and plants rather than swords and fighting like his grandfather had wanted him to– leave the books to the cowards in the great libraries, he said. The only one to support him in his studies was his sister. He was still forced to pick up the sword, though, and became proficient in its ways. He was also bullied by the school children and learned how to defend himself when they took it a little too far.
As an adolescent he studied how certain medicines were made, and soon he was dead set on finding out how to make them, apply them, and overall how to practice medicine.
When he and his sister turned sixteen they decided they both wanted to get better at their crafts, and they both knew they wouldn’t be able to reach the mastery that they wanted to in a backwater farming village in the countryside of Brelan.
When they found out that Thisbe was known for its relaxed laws on magic, they thought it would be the perfect place to start out. The two of them started out in Thisbe’s merchant quarter, quickly finding a mentor to begin their training under all things herb-based– including but not limited to medicines, teas, recreational drugs, and alcoholic mixes. Lucas himself focused on medicines, teas, and recreational drugs, but primarily teas and medicines.
Once they were proficient in their practice their mentor began showing them both how to manage the apothecary that he owned by the name of Chorus Liliorum, making it profusely known to the both of them that he intended to leave it to them should they be able to manage it correctly, to bring in an adequate number of customers, to save their wages for long enough to buy it off of him.
