LUCIAN RIVAIN "I remember falling to my knees." friends. in his youth, he liked to think he had many friends, but as time has worn on and chipped away at him, true friends, he has found, are few and far between. there are few he trusts, but there is room for a few who he would call friend. Gods know he needs one or two. enemies. besides himself, there is no-one he would outwardly view as an enemy, besides, possibly, any orc barbarians, naturally. enemies to the king, well, it's his duty, but they are the king's enemies, not his. This is not to say. however, that he doesn't have any enemies. particularly in his youth, he was a bastard, and treated people he felt inferior with disdain. there is not doubt he's garnered hateful feelings toward himself over the years. lovers. he has had many lovers in his lifetime, but as he ages, and his demons chase him, he hasn't had the patience to continue his dallying with women who ultimately only want him for his title and money. he doesn't know it, nor is he seeking it, but he needs a woman to step into the darkness with him and help him slay his demons. *cough cough Idrial Belinor cough*

YENNESIA "The jury says she's charming but her exes say she's wicked." Yennesia is cold and calculating in how she conducts her business - her business being anything for her own gain. Primarily, as a gifted human and as one of the founding members of the Mages Guild, this usually manifests in the pursuit of magical knowledge, understanding and power. This self-centered perspective is also often turned on her relationships, romantic or otherwise. She manipulates all around her, as much as she does the storm magic she commands. She doesn't so much have friends, but rather people she has deemed worth her time and investment to continue a running dialogue with over time. It doesn't always come across this way outwardly - she is very charming and warm when she wants to be. Those in her good graces, or those that would consider themselves 'friends' with Yen would know it. For what little close people she has in her life, she has tenfold the amount that dislike or hate her. She burns bridges quickly and often if they no longer serve her or carry her where she wishes to be carried. Over time, this has created much animosity toward her from all walks of life. Romance, well, she doesn't really have time for all that, does she? She has her dabbles and flings when it suits her, and when it doesn't she moves on. Anyone wanting something more had best be ready to be burned for she leaves a fiery trail of disappointment and unmet expectations.

#SlowBurnnnnn | Idrial definitely has an attraction to Lucian in spite of the fact that he barfs pretty much every time they cross paths, lmao. Lately (and especially in light of some stuff going down in a present thread 👀), she's been feeling pessimistic about her love life. Although she's always thought of herself as something of a romantic, she's feeling less and less deserving of anything lasting. With Lucian, she's definitely feeling ~things~ and she's not sure yet if it's a magnetic attraction in the capacity of a healer to his demons that are clearly having a physical impact  or something more - possibly both. That early bonding moment was very meaningful to her and thinks there's a sort of kinship there that she hasn't really experienced with anyone else yet. She's a naturally curious person, though, and whether she realizes it or not, consciously means to or not, she will end up finding out if there's anything between them - romantically or platonically - outside of a healer-patient relationship.

That reunion thread was #INTENSE but I loooooooved how it ended up being something I didn't expect at all. Az went in thinking they were going to be friends that just picked back up after all of these years like nothing had happened, but clearly *too much* had happened and they are both very different from the men they were when they had met as soldiers. This is pretty typical for Az-- he gets an idea about how things are/are going to be (usually overly optimistic), operates on that assumption, and has it blow up in his face. I have no idea what there is for these guys but I'm reaaaaaally interested in seeing if they can renew their friendship/brotherhood or if they're just too different now. Az really is loyal 'til the end, committed to righting any wrongs he's done, and isn't likely to give up unless or until there is no other option, or until Lucian outright states that he truly wants Az out of his life. If Lucian still means to start his post-military career as a mercenary, I think that could afford some interesting and plentiful opportunities for Lucian and Az (and Idrial) to team up.

Oh yes, this slow burn....literal YEARS hahaha. I love it though. I think Lucian is just confused AF at the moment. I don't think he's thought in depth about his growing feelings for Idrial, though they are there. He's too afraid to analyse them and acknowledge them for fear of what they could mean. He feels that connection, and my god has he been craving it, needing it for so long, but he has been so far removed from having a connection with anyone that he's not sure he can maintain one. There is the added stuff going on with Azazeal but I think Idrial may perform a sort of bridging role in that relationship. I think we talked about that waaaay early on. In any case, I would certainly like a thread where he isn't going to spew on her and can actually present himself in a decent fashion like a normal human being, whether he feels like one or not.

I think the intensity of that interaction was very much needed. There was so much pent up for Lucian, so much he hadn't processed and had ignored until they reappeared that day. I think now that it has happened though, there is room now for healing, and same thing as with Idrial, Lucian is starved of connection and Az and Luc are in prime positions to rekindle that connection of old again I think, and acknowledge who they are as men now.

Maaaaaaaybe one between the three of them? You know, post big blow up with Azazeal, they are all brought together a decent amount of time after the fact (maybe like a week or so? so everyone has time to process and cool down). Or would you rather explore both those things individually? Does Az know that Lucian and Idrial know each other at this point?

I agree about Idrial functioning in a bridging role - I think that would be a very natural thing for her to do. She has some awareness of who Lucian is to Az and, with him being a person she's wanting to know better too, it would benefit her to help them along also. 

I think at this point, she's probably not mentioned her interactions with Lucian to Az yet. More out of respect for Lucian's privacy than anything, since she's mostly seen him when things aren't going so well lol. I'll have to go back and look, but I think they may have been briefly introduced (again) by Az in that early tavern thread before they went and had their chat. I think they had already met at that point but they didn't correct him.

If you don't think it would be too much time having passed, maybe we can work on pulling Lucian more into the present timeline?

Maybe she can ask about what happened between him and Az those weeks ago, and then encourage Az to reach out to him? And Az aboslutely would, and maybe they just have a little casual chat or letter exchange, then we dive into a trio thread?

Or maybe Az & Lucian have a little post-blow up chat a week-ish later like you said and then we can just get the trio together after Solstice?
