New to Giralda, I see. Well, it takes all sorts around here. Take that shifty-eyed weasel by the fire.
Oh, he acts looks like a simple merchant, peddling meager wares, but watch what you say around him. The Empire’s got ears everywhere...
See those two there? They seem all chummy now, but that’s only because Var is trying to convince Jarek to desert the navy in Thisbē and join
those lawless bastards who sail from the Spice Isles. I’m sure that one will kill the other before the week is out, once they’ve got what they want from each other.
Then there’s always the usual mercs; bastards who’d happily kill their own mothers for a coin. Oh, they say those twins from Brelan aren’t so bad,
but a merc is a merc, and money is all they see.
At least there're no damned elves here tonight. One got uppity last month when I insisted the
bastard slept in the stables. A damn generous offer for a half-breed, if you ask me!
Mind yourself if you head into the Wilds. It’s full of things that
would happily eat you and shit you out without a second thought. Even the people who hunt those things are more beast than civil.
Anyway stranger,
what'll it be: a room, or a drink?

CURRENT MONTH: AUREL, 762
This month marks the transition from the scorching sun of summer to the cooling of autumn. The night skies become more magnificent as shooting stars are more frequent, and auroras dance across the horizon. Aurel is a time of harvest when the farmers gather the crops that cannot withstand the upcoming heavy rains of Nandir.
December 2023 Soft hiatus - have a safe, warm, and minimally dysfunctional holiday season!
October 2023 Site month change! New threads (unless set in the past, future, or an AU) should be dated "Aurel 762". See the Information tab for a description of the month. Characters in the Temple Crew should be mindful of the continuity of possible injuries, connections made, relationship changes, increase in wealth, etc. as much as possible as this is set after the campaign.
June 2023 Happy Pride! 🌈

MAGIC
Omnilingualism -- the ability to speak, understand, and decipher any/all languages. [UNLOCKED] Master | Linguistic Assimilation - temporarily know another person's language through physical contact. Repetition can improve lasting understanding of a language but is not powerful enough to gain fluency without supplement/practice.
[UNLOCKED] Adept | Intuitive Multilingualism - capable of intuitively learning and translating languages at a supernaturally accelerated rate. Fluency of languages from the same linguistic tree can be developed even faster. Also more highly attuned to people's body language and can even predict combat movements.
[UNLOCKED] Novice | Receptive Omnilingualism - the translation of any written language into the user's own native tongue, or through subliminal intuition by physical communication means. This ability may even employ telepathic faculty, where the psychic energy is read (by hearing or sight) to understand what the message is meant to convey. This does not automatically give the user the ability to speak in the languages that they hear, however they can be picked up when heard frequently.
[LOCKED] Telepathic Translation - translate all languages and cause others to hear languages they understand and vice versa.
[LOCKED] Projective Omnilingualism - emit a field that translates every language spoken inside it, causing everyone to understand what others are speaking.
[LOCKED] Aligist - able to almost instantly speak, read, write and understand languages.
BLOODLINE
Father: Denerick (dwarf) Mother: Húrdra (orc) Sisters: Open Brothers: Open Spouse: Sehryn (wife, deceased) Children: Maz'riin (daughter, not bio) Other: Barathul (mother-in-law)
BIOGRAPHY
◦ Birth name: Viddathari
◦ Born into a lesser orc clan (Clan Ythok, an offshoot of Clan Baghúr) on the isle of Damakos; a son of the clan’s Matriarch, Húrdra, and her sixth husband, a merchant dwarf named Denerick Hale.
Denerick had gone to the island looking to expand his trade and diversify wares. As he worked closely with the Matriarch, the pair developed feelings for each other and Denerick eventually became her fourth husband in a polyandrous relationship.
◦ When the boy was 12, he started traveling with his father - at which point he ‘anglicized’ his name to Bellamy Hale for whenever he traveled outside of Damakos - and they discovered two things: Bellamy had a chronic illness and he possessed a supernatural gift for languages. Denerick sought out the best care for his son’s asthma and a dwarf shaman for harnessing his unique brand of magic. The latter of which proved to be useful in the Hale family business as they ventured beyond Giralda to all sorts of exotic places.
◦ At 19, Bellamy entered into an arranged marriage as second husband to the shaman’s daughter, Sehryn. They had one living child by the first husband, a daughter called Maz'riin (or Rini, as Bellamy calls her), now 7. When Rini was a toddler, Seryn and Yatul were tragically killed, making Bellamy the only parent she really remembers. Being a daughter of the clan, however, Rini is looked after and guided by the mothers; especially his, Seryn’s, and Yatul’s. Something that would have occurred anyway, and why it is possible for Bellamy to maintain his job with the king. Whenever possible, he visits Damakos to see his daughter.
◦ Won his position in Isto’s advisory council in a card game his father got him a seat at. Although a non-traditional means of landing an important position, Bellamy has worked tirelessly every day to prove himself worthy of the role. As it happened, he was a natural; repeatedly impressing the court in spite of his demographics, and frequently nominated to be the liaison between the curia regis and the king, as Isto seems to take a little shine to him.
