Notes: As is often the case for royalty, this is not intended to be a love match but one of necessity and political advancement. The main requirements for her are that she has to be an eligible human woman of childbearing years. This should be a character who is ambitious and has her own life outside of this storyline if/when Isto is being particularly avoidant. Otherwise, you pretty well have free reign and we can see where their relationship goes organically. 🙂

Isto has done a fantastic job of actively weaseling out of marriage opportunities for 30 years. This was easier before he was officially crowned king about 5 years ago, but the pressure to produce an heir has been on ever since; and even moreso after a nearly-successful (very public) assassination attempt on him.

It's high time he can't get out of it this time - reasons tbd.

Being locked into marriage and fatherhood are probably his greatest fears, so you can imagine this will go reaaaaaal well, lol. He also has feelings for a person he can't marry, so more fuel to the fire there.

Though he doesn't look it, Isto is in his 60s. Some people speculate that he's half-elf and was merely legitimized after the death of his older brother to keep the throne under Rivenn rule. Which, if that's true (it's not), makes him infertile and the people counting on the Rivenn dynasty being secured will need to come up with a plan B. Others believe he is merely vain and dabbles in youth-enizing magic to stay pretty. In any case, he's getting up there in years and with tensions potentially ramping back up to contest the throne, an heir is imperative.
